Carpet Business Expansion |
Mokhira is from a small village in the desert south of Navoii, it requires almost two hours to travel there from
Navoii.
I started participating in the process of carpet making during my school years, learning from her grandma.
This is the very first time I have taken a credit and I have now started my own carpet making business.
There isn't any other kind of occupation in our tiny village. To start a carpet business is too expensive, and I did not have the funds to start. The JDA Micro Credit program came to my village at the right time for me and my family. We were able to get a group of women together and I was able to take a start up fund and paid it back after I sold my first carpets. Carpet making is hard work and it is a long time consuming process. During a month I make one or two carpets and get a net profit of $4-5 dollars.
I am so thankful that we have a micro credit program in our village. And I hope in the second cycle I will spend my profit for expanding my business.
